WHERE IS BOLO YEUNG?
For me a big part of my martial arts interest-growing up is credited to Bolo Yeung (Yang Sze). Don’t get me wrong Bruce Lee was larger than life and a great role model icon. But I related and was captivated with Bolo’s blood curdling character, physical presence and always playing the villain, where Good vs Evil. There was no greater villain antagonist as Bolo in the movie Enter the Dragon (1973) and later playing Chong Li in Bloodsport (1988).
After googling and seeing more photographs with Bolo and Bruce Lee. Also, learned that Yeung has been in over 50 films. Most playing the villain with titles including: Double Impact, Shootfighter, King Boxer (Five Fingers of Death), The Heroic Ones, Chinese Hercules, TC2000 and Legacy of Rage with Brandon Lee.
About 10 years ago, I was honored to see Bolo Yeung and family training at the San Gabriel Valley LA Fitness. The son and daughter were being coached by their famous father. In fact the son David Yeung looked similar to his famous Dad. I got the courage introduced myself and asked for training tips. Believe they were honored; in that didn’t ask for a photograph or autograph. They showed me advanced barbell press concentrations, in which still use today.
Enter Bolo Jr.
Later became friends with the son David Yeung, who is also a retired bodybuilder, aspiring actor and private trainer. Private trained with David for about a year and was making astonishing progress. Just had to stop due to time and money constraints. Happy to say, Bolo Yeung just had a 72 year old birthday, is a new grandfather and family are doing quite well!!
